Recap
Hazama gets some help from his friends in order to get a one on one showdown with the Prime Minister. Unfortunately for Hazama, the PM is packing some serious gear. Even if Samurai Flamenco defeats this new threat, will the world still be in danger?
I… I… what… It’s like four months ago I got on a rollercoaster and at the halfway point it started its big fall, but it just never stops falling. We already had some idea of the Prime Minister being more than he appeared, but having past PMs’s portraits shoot light and form power armor… man I just wrote that down and it already doesn’t make any sense to me. I do love how unabashedly the power suit rips off Iron Man, replete with a digital HUD and central core. I loved the idea that the admiration of the people literally powers the robot vicariously. Clearly this is the kind of power that should have been use to solve our energy problems but no, Japan needs its armored minister division.
I suppose it’s a bit more excusable since Japan has some strict anti-gun laws, but you’d think the Secret Service of the Prime Minister of Japan would have some guns on them. Not that that would probably have mattered anyway, Every member of law enforcement outside Goto has been shown to have the dexterity of a three toed sloth, and thus give our heroes ample time to bring out each pose and weapon in their repertoire.
The final reveal was just the most ludicrous thing possible. Not only does Mister Justice reveal himself to be a friggin alien, but they show that the alien somehow is a completely different shape from his human form. I’m flabbergasted. I have been watching this show from day one and yet every other episode these days it comes up with a new way to surprise me. I just can’t win. I also still don’t get what Flamenco has to do with any of this, since it seems that is just a name given to characters now and not just a random flavor word. It’s like someone had a plan to write a heartwarming story about a regular dude who aspired to be a superhero like he’d seen in his childhood, but halfway through he ran out of ideas and then just decided to see if he could one-up himself every week forever. If there’s one thing I can say about Samurai Flamenco, it’s that I am never disappointed.
