Nanana’s Buried Treasure Episode 10

Thursday 1:30 pm EST on Crunchyroll
Watching: Jel, Lifesong, Marlin, Aquagaze

JelThe first half of this episode was so bad I almost gave up for good. I know Tensai is supposed to be a genius and all, but randomly pulling out the Golden Ratio and Fibonacci sequence was a super dumb and arbitrary way to try and make the show seem smart. Fortunately the second half redeemed itself somewhat with a cool fight scene. It was nice to finally see some of Nanananana’s collection put to work, and who doesn’t love a heroic comeback? I was also slightly amused by Bandage Guy coming on to Trap Maid Kana Hanazawa – and no, I’m not making the effort to learn their names. I still want this show to just end already, but if I must keep watching I hope it goes down swinging like this.

Date A Live Season 2 Episode 10

Friday 2:05 pm EST on Funimation

Watching: Lifesong

Lifesong: The conclusion has come and gone and I find myself bit disappointing things ended so easily. Ultimately we learned very little about Shido or Touka. We didn’t learn much about Kurumi’s goals either. I find myself wanting to forgive this show despite failing to answer any of my questions. There was a movie announcement at the end of the episode. Maybe the movie will clear some things up? Or maybe I really need to read the novels. I am clearly invested enough a this point.

Riddle Story of Devil The Devil’s Riddle Episode 11

Friday 2:55 pm EST on Funimation

Watching: Jel, Lifesong, Gee, Marlin

Jel: I really hope the whole “queen bee” thing is just subterfuge because it is way too dumb to take seriously. I’m hoping it’s revealed next week that Nio is actually the last assassin and that was her way of tricking Tokaku into doing the dirty work or something. I suppose with a more clever presentation the twist could have been interesting, but instead we got a flat info dump that attempts to explain away everyone’s awkward lesbian feelings. I can’t imagine anything in the final episode is going to change my mind about this series at this point, hopefully they at least make some kind of flashy spectacle out of the ending.

Nanana’s Buried Treasure – I’m calling the police…

The Irregular at Magic High School Episode 11

Saturday 2:00 pm EST on Crunchyroll

Watching: Lifesong

Lifesong: I would like to say it was fun to see some competitive spirit, but the truth is that everything we were shown was a disgustingly one sided affair. Meanwhile Tatsuya is told not to show off his ubermensch abilities in front of civilians. I am sure that is exactly what he will end up doing for some reason or another. I don’t mind Tatsuya’s robot sensibilities so much, but I wish the characters interacting with him would actually get something tangible out of it. As it stands now they tell us that he is great to have around, but I don’t see it.

The World Is Still Beautiful Episode 11

Saturday 3:00 pm EST on Crunchyroll

Watching: Iro, Marlin

Marlin: Welp, back from my short hiatu… I mean I was totally here last week what are you talking about.

This show continues to be pretty sweet when it wants to. Obviously, the weird age gap aside, the kiss between Nike and Livi was really sweet, and having Nike realize she actually is developing deeper feelings for him was the kind of trope usage I can get behind. The plot for the second half was kind of lame, but predictable. Not sure what king in his right mind would go to a foreign land with only his wife and butler for support. Obviously this is pretty much tailor made for Livi to go and be the hero for once. It’s kinda sad that this show has to keep going on “oh no this situation prevents me from controlling the wind” to keep Nike powerless, but the sentiment of Livi’s rescue is still cute and, for the first time in a while, I’m actually looking forward to more.

Brynhildr In the Darkness Episode 11

Sunday 10:00 am EST on Crunchyroll
Watching: Lifesong

Lifesong: Pacing issues have marred this show from the start, but this is the first time events have felt this rushed. A lot happened in this episode and I’m glad and it did. I’ve been worried about what kind of non ending this anime might throw at us and honestly I am still am. That said, things are clearly heading toward something. Will it be a satisfying something? Who could say. I do think it is interesting they added a healer right before facing us with our teams biggest challenge yet. I will bet anything she can heal other people as well as herself. I can’t wait to see how they handle Luc… I mean the 8 magic witch of doom. Surely she won’t go down without a fight.

Black Bullet Episode 10

Tuesday 12:30 pm EST on Crunchyroll
Watching: Lifesong, Marlin

Lifesong: This episode pulled an incredible 180. We went from peaceful times spent teaching orphaned girls to terrorists attacks and an early collapse of the monolith. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, this government is useless. They can’t even factor in what the wind might do to a collapsing monolith? If Rentaro can figure it out so quickly it can’t be that hard to anticipate right? This episode hurt and I kind of want to see all the incompetence in this city just get washed away by giant bug things. Of course it looks like Kagetane is back to hammer that point home. Somehow I have a feeling that he didn’t touch the orphans. If he didn’t that will make ignoring his stance hard to do…

If Her Flag Breaks – They should have showed the cooking battle.

No Game No Life Episode 10

Wednesday 11:30 am EST on Crunchyroll
Watching: Lifesong, Timmy

Lifesong: Sora’s plan comes together in a wonderful way. It was interesting to see how he has used natural scrutiny in his favor. It will be harder to cheat with all of Imanity, plus an elf watching the game. Of course even with everything lined up perfectly for Blank to win who could have guessed the location of the game would be such a weakness for Sora and Shiro? I wonder how the beasts learned Tokyo? Maybe they summoned someone from another world themselves? I can’t wait to see how this game will play out. I hope it involves Steph saving the day. That would just fit the situation perfectly I think.

Chaika –The Coffin Princess– Episode 10

Wednesday 2:00 pm EST on Crunchyroll
Watching: Lifesong

Lifesong: That sure escalated quickly. In retrospect I guess we have been coming to this point for awhile now, but the stuff with the king and the rebellion… it all seemed so distant and removed from the adventure of our protagonists. I guess that is all well and good as I’m dying for the next episode. Mind control magic just makes me feel kind of sick. These villains are particularly disgusting even without that. I do wonder if the magic even worked on Akari. She has proven to be a skilled actress before and well… she has no issues slamming her hammer into Tooru. And what about Chaika? So much going on, I hope we get some justice next week.

If Her Flag Breaks Episode 10

Wednesday 3:00 pm EST on Crunchyroll
Watching: Lifesong, Marlin

Marlin: This episode was just plain bad. The plot was nonexistent, and really took away from the mood they had been building the episodes prior. This show really needs to learn it can’t have its cake and eat it too. Either you go all serious or you go all jokes. Stop flip-flopping. If you’re going to do a wet T-shirt contest, why make it so that you barely see anything? We already saw all these characters in bathing suits like three episodes ago, don’t see any reason to be shy now. I did at least get a kick out of how disgusted Souta was with himself for continuing the wet t-shirt contest even after it’s clear that all these women are out of their goddamn minds. Hoping for a bit more substance once we get into next week.

  1. Mahouka Koukou: The MayumiXTatsuya scene was nice, and seeing Fujibayashi was good too. The lack of explanation really made the events seem lackluster though.

could have done an entire season with all the stuff that was skipped in Brynhildr, soooo salty about that,

NGNL: Poor Blank, who knew the were-beasts had knowledge about Tokyo? Akiba is like a hikikomori’s nightmare lol. Suspect Fi will still retain her memories since Sora only mentioned Imanity in the part about getting their memories wiped if they lose, that slip may end up costing them big time.

      • Yes, but just barely…

it’s still following following, from what I remember, although with all the changes done to it at this point i fully expect it to go off the rails next episode. May as well reread the entire thing from beginning, since there were a few cut characters and important details left out, but if you really want to, Valkyria storyline begins in Ch. 55
