Euri’s verdict: You Might Have Seen This Show Before
This show had me engaged for exactly two minutes. A minute and a half of that is the opening sequence, which was actually rather refreshing. I do like me some ZAQ, and it seemed to be teasing a huge cast of characters. There was some rather nice title work and some run-of-the-mill but suitable animation to have along with it. The remaining thirty seconds is a dream sequence, alluding to the current state of the world. It’s the first piece of content you get from the show, and it does a decent job of setting the tone, as much as a thirty second clip can, anyway. Then Arata wakes up and grabs the breast of his childhood friend and cousin, Hijiri Kasuga. It’s not even that this is one of the most overused scenes in anime history (not to mention it was followed up by her screaming his name, with the scene cutting to a shot of the apartment to hide her hitting him for it), but rather the marker of where things just go downhill. This show has taken a huge serving of harem tropes along with it, so not only do we get a protagonist who has to mention boobs every other sentence, but we also have the token naked lady in the men’s bathroom, as well as the tsundere girl who blushes too easily and Kasuga when embarrassed. If you want to see some awful characters, talk of boobs and perhaps some plot later down the line, go for it. Personally, I’d rather watch something else.
Marlin’s verdict: Barely made it 4 minutes.
Don’t watch this show. It is just a waste of time. I think a pretty good judge of if your story is terrible is if it has a groping within one minute of the opening scene. Once it got into the realm of stupid chuuni eclipses and psychic yandere conversations, I had more than enough reason to simply drop it there and not give it another second of my time. This season is shaping up to have some good content, so please, don’t waste your time on this show.
