All Your Monies: June 8th 2016

Hello, and welcome to All Your Monies, where The Glorio Blog’s resident toy and figure collecting crew (and Iro) will run down the last week’s new pre-orders, turning a loving or scathing all-seeing eye over what’s been put out for you to spend your hard-earned cash on. This week we have some cute boys rapidly followed by a complete breakdown of the laws of physics.

Leonardo Watch Ending ver. (Blood Blockade Battlefront)
Alter, November, ¥10,800

Zigg: Leonardo is a cool guy and this is one of the best and most relevant variants we’ve seen in a while, considering how awesome the Blues Brothers styled ending is. The level of details is as lavish as you’d expect from Alter, but it’s the cheeky pose that really makes this one.

Jel: Really good work here, Alter being the masters of making normal clothes look amazing with their level of detail. Sonic and Leo’s eye make for some interesting contrast to the plain black suit. The dancing pose is great too. It would make me irrationally happy if they eventually made the entire cast dancing together.

Iro: This is from the best ED sequence in recent memory, and seems like a decent figure besides. I particularly like Sonic on his shoulder.

Timmy: Very cool. BBB is on my watch list but I juat haven’t gotten around to it, so I haven’t the slightest who this dude and his little monkey friend are, but they do look great. I love that big toothy grin on his face.

Nendoroid Chromatsu Matsuno/Ichimatsu Matsuno (Osomatsu-san)
Good Smile Company, October, ¥3,241 each

Zigg: Predictable but still pretty great. Unlike with the figmas, the Nendoroid team clearly have a sharp eye for the right acessories to include – check out the Nya-tan bag on Choromatsu. It’s ESP kitty who really steals the show here though.

Jel: The face and accessory choices for the nendos have been great, but I could care less about brothers #1 through 3. It’s Ichimatsu with the ESP kitty where these really gets tempting. OK let’s be honest, I really just want ESP kitty in some form. Most importantly though, we know Jyushimatsu is next. Better save my yen coins for that…

Iro: These should have been the ones they released in the first place rather than the copy-paste ones in their uniforms. The expressions and accessories are top notch.

Timmy: Definitely much better then the figmas as the previous nendoroids were and an easy recommendation for fans of the show. I have always been a little shy about that blank face personally though, as I would never be able to actually put the sticker on.

De La Fille (Granblue Fantasy)
Revolve, March 2017, ¥17,500

FIGURE-018619_01

Zigg: I don’t know anything about the source material but this is an incredibly striking design that looks to take full advantage of its flamboyant design. I love the twisted hair and all those floating crystalline fruits. Pretty sure she doesn’t actually need to be wearing that little but let’s let it slide for now.

Jel: The Lucky Charms leprechaun looks way different than what I remember.

Iro: This is pretty, despite her boobs being comically oversized. I don’t know anything about Granblue Fantasy other than that it’s wildly popular, so I assume there’s a good reason for the crystal fruit rainbow (Crystal Fruit Rainbow sounds like a fruit snack from the 90s).

Timmy: Very colorful and pretty. Highlights for me are the hair and the fruit rainbow, but generally I don’t have any qualms. Well, except for the price anyways. She is pretty but not 17k pretty.

Android #18 (Dragon Ball Z)
Megahouse, September, ¥9,250

FIGURE-019728_01

Zigg: What’s super annoying here is that in all other respects this looks to be a great figure. Sharp looking representation of an iconic design, with great sculpting and a reasonable price? Awesome! It’s jsut such a shame that the cleavage had to happen. Keep it in your pants guys.

Jel: She is a robot so, maybe the boob enhancement was just an easy thing to tack on?

Iro: This is why we can’t have nice things. Look, I know Dragonball has a lot of sex comedy, but come the fuck on. Android 18 was never billed as a fanservice character in any capacity, so what the fuck? Have we stooped this low?

Timmy: 18 looks nice here outside the asymmetrical cleavage. I can deal  with a little boob hanging out but having things not be even just makes it look even more awkward. At the very least the price is reasonable.

Super Sonico Racing ver. (Cthulu Mythos?)
Max Factory, January 2017, ¥6,00013,704

FIGURE-019628_01

Zigg: It’s been a while hasn’t it? OK, let’s line it up…

Jel: Wait, is she supposed to be wearing Hatsune Miku’s outfit? And apparently still in Miku’s dress size? I’m on to you, GSC and Max Factory.

Iro: Speaking of comically oversized boobs and stooping low, I guess that’s Sonico’s entire shtick, so I can’t say I’m surprised. Disgusted, of course, but not surprised.

Timmy: Speaking of boobs, it would have really been nice if Max Factory had not just strapped some balloons to Sonico’s chest. Yes, we all know she has big breasts but I have seen prize figures that depict them better. It’s especially frustrating considering I like everything else about this figure and the fact she is one of the few twin tailed Sonicos on the market.

  1. That Leonardo figure is fantastic! Great pose and the details. The details are where it’s at: The jacket lining, the quality shoes and the creased pants….top notch.
