I think an additional problem with the infamous episode of Wandering Witch is that there is no real reason given for why Elaina just leaves at the end. No callback to her mother asking her to get out of trouble, no inner monologue about, I dunno, moral relativism or anything. We don’t know what she is thinking at all, aside from a milquetoast “Whoa, that was kinda messed up”. She just *leaves*, as if she’s checking out of a hotel. The episode just *ends*. There is no resolution, and this is ultimately what leads me to believe that this is not intended to be interpreted as Elaina making an obvious mistake that later character development will fix. Absolutely incomprehensible.
