A young woman encounters a mysterious animal left abandoned in the rain. She reluctantly brings it home and quickly bonds with her new pet “dog”, a tanuki-like creature that might be as smart as a human.
Jel’s verdict: Rainy Days are Good for Sleeping
With You and the Rain has good vibes. The first episode is very chill with only a little dialogue, letting the audience soak up the atmosphere. Our little tanuki friend brings a small dose of weirdness to everything, including a particularly silly scene when they have to go to the vet for shots. They don’t seem to have any other tanuki powers besides being intelligent enough to write and keep a leaf on its head, but hey, it’s something.
Alright, I was nice, now I can say it: I was bored out of my mind by the final scene. I’m pretty sure the last 1/3rd of the episode was just the main lady soaking in a bath, and not in the sexy fan servicey anime way you might be thinking, but like literally sitting there doing nothing. Yes, the mood was nice as it was dusk and raining, but I need a little more than atmosphere to keep me going. So in the end, this was a very pleasant episode of anime, but I have no idea what they are going to do for a full season.

I love the atmosphere. The expressions and attitude of the character are perfect for the rain and it made me miss just chilling in the bathtub, because I just got a shower tub lol. I love her eyes as well. The color palette for the anime is also phenomenal :3
Yeah, they did a great job creating the right mood, and everything does look very nice.
