Walkure performs a pre-emptive concert to prevent a Vars outbreak. Things are going well enough for Freyja and Hayate in their performance debut, but it’s only a matter of time before the spectacle draws the attention of their mysterious enemy.
Another round of cuts and me raging about Twin Star Exorcists earlier in the week will have The Roundup looking a bit thinner, but fortunately the return of Sakamoto and a solid performance from the rest of the line up keep things positive.
Benio begins attending school with Rokuro and causes a stir among his classmates. While his buddies go off to investigate a large impurity, Rokuro decides to hang out at an amusement park with his long time friend Mayura.
Freyja and Hayate begin their training regimes but are struggling to deal with their new structured environment. Mirage is charged with Hayate’s training and is incredibly frustrated by his lack of respect, leading her to challenge him to a dog fight as his final exam.
Seems like Spring is going to be the season for relaxing with some fun, light hearted comedies as they pretty much dominate The Roundup. I am OK with this. Even so, a couple shows are already in danger of getting the axe, can you guess which ones it will be?
Freyja and Hayate arrive on Ragna in time (sort of) for the audition. They have caught the attention of Walkure and Delta squadron respectively after their actions in the previous battle, but both still have plenty to prove.
A bunch of weirdo high school girls are so unlucky that they have to be put in a special class to be rehabilitated. One of them gets punched by a cat. I guess it’s kind of fun?
Haru visits his birth mother who lives in the Canadian wilderness and discovers she has taken in an orphan named Ren. Tasked with “taming” the wild and anti-social boy, Haru immediately takes him under his wing.
Impurities from the parallel world of Magano have been slipping into the real world and only powerful exorcists can stop them. Two of these exorcists meet seemingly by chance – a boy who has given up on his training and a girl who has sworn to destroy every last impurity in Magano.
About 8 years after the events of Macross Frontier, a group of idols and valkyrie pilots fight to control the spread of Vars Syndrome – an ailment that makes people go mad but can be cured with magic singing. Maybe. There’s also another squad of fighters that seem to be bad guys? Honestly, I don’t know what’s going on.
Yes, we did already do our season Wrap Up and yes, new shows are airing, but there are still a few shows left to round up. Fortunately all four remaining series end on a high note, delivering pretty much everything we could have realistically expected for final episodes.
Starting today, we will no longer be posting our usual reviews and previews at theglorioblog.com. Instead we will be moving all anime discussion exclusively to Nintendo’s hot new mobile app, Miitomo.
We say good bye to BBK/BRNK, Durarara, and the shorts, but Snow White, Osomatsu, Rakugo, and Dagashi Kashi will stubbornly hold on for one more episode. Come guys, we got a new season to prepare for, wrap it up already!
Our final round of previews features the much hyped Trigger original Kiznaiver, some sleepy slice of life shows, and a bus tour gone wrong that sounds like the anime equivalent of Lost. We even have Dogakobo’s next potential successor to Love Lab, although several years later I know better than to get my hopes up for that.
Part 2 of our guide features some potential big hits in the visually stunning Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress and the shonen mass appeal of Twin Star Exorcists. Throw in some super cool pre-war era style with Joker Game, a healthy dose of urban fantasy with Bungou Stray Dogs, and some absurdist comedy with Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto, and this season is looking pretty good… well, except for Netoge, which could turn out to be one of the worst show in years.
A little later than usual, but it’s time once again to check out the hot new shows for next season. Winter had the strongest batch of shows overall that we’ve seen in a long time, so Spring 2016 has some big shoes to fill. Part 1 of our guide gets us off to a good start with the return of Jojo and the adaptation of popular manga My Hero Academia. Macross Delta is also totally happening this time, I promise.
I fixed my computer just in time to say goodbye to Konosuba and watch Karamatsu get his junk ripped off. What a season of anime this has been.
Our Roundup shows intensify as the end of the season approaches. Join us for the emotional drama and psychological pain that is Ojisan and Marshmallow and Sekko Boys… and probably Rakugo. Also my computer broke last night and I couldn’t do screencaps so enjoy pictures of robots punching robots courtesy of Iro.
A bit of a hit and miss week with some shows doing better than others, but the good shows were pretty great. Sure we have our subtle, measured use of drama with shows like Snow White and Rakugo, but I’ll take the hilarious vomiting blood reactions of Osomatsu and the marble statue blackmail sex of Sekko Boys any day.
BBK/BRK smashes its way into a guest appearance on The Roundup as the world needs to know about the insane episode 8. And here I thought I was going to lead off this week with more Osomatsu and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure jokes…
