The Roundup: Winter 2015 Volume 2

Good times all around as Roundup vets Shirobako and Garo deliver some fresh perspectives and the new shows continue to deliver on their potential. Earth Defense Club is somehow still funny, Death Parade expands its emotional range, Maria stays as sharp as ever, and Yatterman delivers one of the first get out of your seat and cheer moments of the season.

The Roundup: Winter 2015 Volume 1

The Roundup returns with a brand new lineup of Winter shows and a few favorites from last season. Magical Boys, a swanky version of the afterlife, medieval sex witches, adorable dystopian uprisings, and a show already dropped in the first round? Just another Tuesday afternoon at the Glorio Blog.

First Look: Unlimited Fafnir

Dragons have appeared on Earth and the only thing that can stop them are girls known as “D”, since they apparently have special powers or something. The world’s first male “D” is discovered and transferred to an all girls’ school for training. Naturally he kicks off his first day accidentally seeing one of the girls naked, only to be interrupted by the appearance of his long lost little sister. Kill me.

First Look: KanColle

Mysterious alien girls with the powers of military war ships are invading Earth. A fleet of other girls that also have the powers of military war ships are the only ones that can stop them. Fubuki is a new girl/destroyer at the uhhh school academy dorm thing (?) that they live in and they spend a lot of time hanging out and doing nothing.

Tsukimonogatari Episodes 1-4

Nadeko is safe but the shrine is still a potential breeding ground for apparitions. Araragi feels obligated to clean up the mess before he leaves for college, but something strange is affecting his powers. With no options left, he tries to contact Yotsugi for help.

GLORIO Winter 2015 Anime Guide Part 1

Winter 2015 is bringing us lots of big name sequels, a few intriguing anime originals, and a dumpster fire full of light novel adaptations with awful sounding premises. Part 1 of our guide is headlined by Lily Bear Storm, the latest work of the delightfully insane Kunihiko Ikuhara and, while I’m loathe to admit it, the anime based on the phenomenon that is Kantai Collection.

The Roundup: Fall 2014 Volume 8

The lineup is thinning out as we approach the final few episodes of the season, but The Roundup is still going strong! Psycho Pass is conspicuously missing (more on that a bit later today), Garo reminds us that Rage of Bahamut isn’t the only rad show by Mappa this season, and Iro gets to yell DEEEEEEEEEEEN for the first time in a good long while.

Amagi Brilliant Park Episode 9

The fairies of Elementario are totally out of sync and it’s hurting their visitor count. Latifah calls a meeting to get them on the same page which naturally leads to them triggering the castle’s automatic defense system, raining cannon fire on anything in the area. Can the fairies work together to save the park? #thisshowisweird

Amagi Brilliant Park Episode 8

The stress of running the park has taken a toll on Kanye and he catches a Summer cold. Worried about his perfect attendance record at school, the rest of the crew use the latest magic technology to take his place. This show is weird.

Tamako Market Love Story

Time passes and high school is almost over for Tamako and her friends. With her decision to continue working with her family and Mochizou’s decision to attend film school in Tokyo, they’re running out of time to sort out their relationship.

Amagi Brilliant Park Episode 7

Things seem to be going OK at the park’s big water attraction until a group of magic elephant seal pirates bust through the interdimensional door under the pool and take everyone as their captives. This show is weird.
