Haganai NEXT Episode 3

Maria “runs away from home” and spends the night tormenting Kobato at the Hasegawa home. With exams over, Yozora decides to hold an after party for the Neighbor’s Club and Rika proposes a King’s Game.

Tamako Market Episode 3

Dera becomes smitten with Shiori, one of Tamako’s new classmates that she recognizes from the badminton club. He brings Shiori to the shopping district, but her shy personality makes it hard to connect with Tamako.

Ixion Saga DT Episode 15

The party finally reaches the Capital, a city so large it takes hours just to reach the throne room of the palace. Ecarlate prepares to meet her betrothed and Kon sets off to find a way home, neither of which seem to be as simple as planned.

OP/ED Op-Eds: Dango Daikazoku [Clannad]

Jun Maeda is best know for his work as a writer with the visual novel company Key, but it’s perhaps a lesser known fact that he also has a hand in composing the soundtracks for his projects. That includes the opening and ending songs of the popular anime adaptations of Kanon, Air, and Clannad, most of which are based on selections of music from the original VNs. The most famous of all these is also the simplest: “Dango Daikazoku”, the ending song for the first part of the Clannad series.

Kotoura-San Episode 2

Word spreads about Haruka’s power and she finds herself recruited by the president of the ESP Research Club. She joins the club along with Manabe, but the club president may have an agenda of her own.

Haganai NEXT Episode 2

Rika catches Kodaka’s attention by taking off her glasses and letting her hair down, only to lose it again by introducing to the club to some BL anime. Later on Kodaka encounters Maria’s older sister Kate, although it seems she’s not quite as old as she looks.

Tamako Market Episode 2

Valentine’s day is approaching and the Bunny Mountain Shopping District (yes, they apparently live on Bunny Mountain) brainstorms ideas for the occasion. Tamako herself seems to have a few admirers but who will she give her chocolate to?

First Impressions: Good Job Club

A loli tsundere, a quiet genius, a tea serving yandere, and a domesticated cat girl are in a club with a brow beaten, average guy. As the Good Job Club (I’m assuming it’s called that from the title of the series), they… I don’t know what they’re supposed to do actually, they never explain that either.

First Impressions: Tamako Market

Tamako already leads a busy life attending high school, spending time with her friends in the baton club, and helping out at her family’s mochi shop, but her life may get even more hectic after finding an incredibly peculiar talking bird.

Winter 2013 Anime Short Roundabout ROUND 2

Alright everyone, once again for the sake of JOURNALISM, we’re back for another round of this season’s anime shorts. Our coverage (and my suffering) continues with Line Offline Salaryman, Ishida & Asakura, gdgd Fairies and Senyu. Are any of these quick hits of anime worth your troubles or is your handful of minutes better spent elsewhere? HMM I WONDER HOW THIS IS GOING TO GO?

OP/ED Op-Eds: Shiroi Kokoro [Oreimo]

Love or hate the series, one cool thing Oreimo had going for it was a new ending song for every episode. Each of the female cast members gets their chance to step up to the mic, but even with more popular actresses like Ayana Taketatsu and Kana Hanazawa in the mix it’s Saori Hayami’s “Shiroi Kokoro” that stands out as the best.

Ixion Saga DT Episode 13

To no one’s surprise, Kon and Ecarlate are still alive and regroup with Sainglain and Mariandale. In the nearest city, they encounter a strange girl who may be Kon’s most dangerous adversary yet.

Nekomonogatari Black First & Final Impressions

Nekomonogatari Black tells the story of the fated Golden Week shortly before the events of Bakemonogatari. Araragi tries to sort out his feelings for Hanekawa, the girl who helped him survive his own bizarre and dangerous Spring Break. But Hanekawa has troubles of her own, even before her body is possessed by a mischievous cat spirit.

Winter 2013 Anime Short Roundabout Hullabaloo

Seems like a growing trend the past couple of seasons for studios to crank out quick, cheap, 5 minute or less anime shorts in an effort to… uhhhh well…. honestly I’m not sure what these things are for, but there’s quite a few of them this season and they often get the same big announcement (and streaming license) as any other full length title. So in the name of JOURNALISM, let us venture forth and see if any of the Winter season’s shorts are worth even the minuscule amounts of time they demand.
