The Roundup: Summer 2017 Volume 10

I throw in a few extra paragraphs as we say goodbye to Restaurant to Another World and Sakura Quest, but unfortunately not Virgin Soul. But hey, GAMERS! and Kakegurui are still hanging around and as fun as ever, so we still have one more week with them.

The Roundup: Summer 2017 Volume 9

Can you believe the season is almost over already? I hope it ends before the previously reliably GAMERS! falls completely out of my favor, and I certainly will not be sad to see Virgin Soul go away. Fortunately the rest of the Roundup seems like it will stay good till the very end. Enjoy, I’m off to start writing those Fall preview guides…

OP/ED Op-Eds: The Best of Summer 2017

Bad news! Summer is over! Good news! That means we’ll be telling you about our favourite anime songs of the season again! Scant consolation, probably, but hey, since when is that our job? Regardless, we have another diverse lineup for you, with gratuitous sex jazz, spy prog, minimal hip-house and a dash of fairy pop. All of these are totally real genres. Look them up.

First Look: Kamen Rider Build

Japan has been split into three separate nations by Pandora’s Box, a mysterious artifact brought back from Mars. In the Eastern region of Touto, attacks by mysterious beings known as the Smash are escalating. The only one who can battle them is the amnesiac genius Sentou Kiryuu, who both fights the monsters and quests for his lost memories as Kamen Rider Build!

Made In Abyss Episodes 6-9

Reg and Riko confront the mysterious Ozen the Immovable, who reveals many secrets about her role in Riko’s past. From there, they travel down through the Third Layer, an endless cliff full of dangerous predators.

First Look: Final Fantasy XIV Dad of Light

Akio has fond memories of playing Final Fantasy III with his dad as a child. Many years later the two have grown distant, rarely talking to each other even though they live in the same house. With his dad quitting his job and retiring to everyone’s surprise, Akio hatches a plan to get the two on good terms again. Akio will go on adventures with his dad in Final Fantasy XIV, while pretending to be a stranger. Only after beating Twintania together will he reveal who he’s been travelling with.

Our Two Cents: Forgotten Gems

Sometimes a show manages to find a place in our hearts even when it’s been denied access to the collective consciousness. In the first instalment of our new monthly feature, Zigg, Iro, Aqua, Gee, Euri, and Artemis throw in their two cents on which all-but forgotten anime they still hold dear.

The Roundup: Summer 2017 Volume 7

Summer is nearly over and so is the anime season, but our Roundup shows are showing no signs of slowing down. It seems to be business as usual this week including Bahamut which has completely embraced the soap opera-y mess its become. I guess the “Cinderella Step” ending song was supposed to be literal?

All Your Monies: August 30th 2017

Hello, and welcome to All Your Monies, where The Glorio Blog’s resident toy and figure collecting crew (and Iro) will run down the last week’s new pre-orders, turning a loving or scathing all-seeing eye over what’s been put out for you to spend your hard-earned cash on. This week we’ve got Godzilla, and an even more terrifying monster – Fate Grand/Order.

The Roundup: Summer 2017 Volume 5

We say welcome (back) to the Ballroom as well as the Quality Trash™ that is Kakegurui after last week’s break, but still no Bahamut this week for better or worse. Meanwhile, Sakura Quest continues to be the best thing going right now.

First Look: Million Yen Women

Shin Michima is a published author with a few books to his name, but his unpopularity has shattered his confidence. He returns home after grocery shopping to discover that five women have been invited to live in his house, by someone unknown, for a million yen in rent per month, per person.
