All Your Monies: October 19th 2016

Hello, and welcome to All Your Monies, where The Glorio Blog’s resident toy and figure collecting crew (and Iro) will run down the last week’s new pre-orders, turning a loving or scathing all-seeing eye over what’s been put out for you to spend your hard-earned cash on. This week, after a few weeks off for ANIMEPOCALYPSE we return with a truly stacked edition.

First Look: The Great Passage

The creation of a new dictionary titled The Great Passage is floundering since Kouhei Araki, the veteran editor in charge of the project, is about to retire. Unhopeful of finding anyone suited to taking over the task, he stumbles across Mitsuya Majime, an employee of the same publishing company whose devotion to words make him a poor salesman but an ideal successor.

The Roundup: Fall 2016 Volume 1

What’s this, anime is good again?!? This week we launch a rock solid lineup for the Fall 2016 Roundup with a couple of other shows joining us next week. Personally I’m already declaring Yuri!! On ICE and March Comes In Like a Lion as anime of the year contenders, we also have delightfully fun shows like ClassicaLoid, Time Bokan 24, and Poco’s Udon World, and for some reason Aqua is still watching Kiss Him, Not Me and Izetta: The Last Witch.

Flip Flappers Episode 2

Papika shows up at Cocona’s school and attempts to integrate herself as a transfer student. Cocona is initially sceptical but when her pet rabbit(?) Uexkull falls through a portal to Pure Illusion, the girls are forced to team up and chase after him.

First Look: Drifters

Shimazu Toyohisa is mortally wounded at the Battle of Sekigahara. Instead of dying, he finds himself transported to an alternate world where other historical figures like him have been transported to as well. These warriors of different time and place are known as the “Drifters.”

First Look: Girlish Number

Chitose is a rookie anime voice actress who is already growing cynical toward the industry. Tired of getting bit parts, she signs a questionable deal for a lead role that also requires joining an idol group.

Sound! Euphonium 2 Episode 2

The girls use their last free day before camp to relax at the pool, but DRAMA never takes a day off. After talking to Nozomi, Natsuki, and Mizore, Kumiko is determined (sort of) to figure out why Asuka will not approve Nozomi’s return.

First Look: Long Riders!

Ami Kurata has just started college and has yet to find something she is truly passionate about. After seeing a cute bicycle she decides to devote her entire life to long distance cycling.

First Look: Fall 2016 Anime Shorts

Shorts in fall are probably a bad idea, especially in Japan, where the common cold can leave you bedridden for days on end. Nevertheless, this fall season probably has a bigger boatload of anime shorts than ever before, and once again it’s up to Jel and I – safe for an entirely unwarranted appearance by Euri – to separate the wheat from the chaff. Though this season, that will probably give you enough wheat to bake a single biscuit and enough chaff to feed an entire stable throughout the winter. But hey, at least we got to see Yotsuba animated! Yay…?

First Look: Poco’s Udon World

After his father’s passing, Souta returns to the small town where he grew up to clear out his parents’ former home and udon restaurant. While in the restaurant he finds a peculiar (and hungry) young boy who immediately grows attached to him.

First Look: Magic of Stella

Tamaki Honda has just started high school and has yet to find something she is truly passionate about. After checking out the various school clubs she decides to join the SNS club, a group of girls who design indie games.

First Look: Occultic;Nine

Yuuta Gamon is a self-declared NEET running an affiliate blog on occult phenomena and gonzo rumours. Also, there’s a spirit medium at his school who’s also an idol, there’s a grumpy dude in glasses and a kid in a fedora and a goth who finds someone’s scalp in her mailbox. And a journalist who is investigating into some professor who gets killed. Oh, and a bunch of people drown. I think?

First Look: March Comes in Like a Lion

At 17 years old, Rei Kiriyama is already living alone, funded by his winnings as a renowned shogi prodigy. Outside of his professional life however, things are much tougher as Rei struggles in his relationship with family and friends.

First Look: Classicaloid

“Classicaloid” versions of classical music composers like Beethoven and Mozart have appeared in modern day Japan. They look like normal people (in slightly weird clothes) but when they play their “musique”, very strange things begin to happen.

First Look: Kiss Him, Not Me!

Kae Serinuma lives to witness the intimate relationships between handsome young men. Yet when the death of her favourite anime characters cause her to lose a lot of weight, Kae suddenly finds herself the object of various boys’ affections. How could she make them stop pining after her, and start pining after each other?
