Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate Episode 2

Recap: Our intrepid Junichi impersonator wants nothing to do with the elections. However, after running into his biggest competition and the old guard, maybe there’s room for a change of heart.

Oojima is absolutely furious at the crew for shanghaiing him into the spotlight as presidential candidate.  Most of this episode he kinda spends as a mopey bitch but you can definitely see where he’s coming from. That’s a lot of responsibility to just be hoisted upon him all at once. This is mostly a vehicle to showcase two new main characters, satellite harem member and candidate rival Shinonome and current President Mori.

Shinonome was the Ayatsuji surrogate in my overly generalizing Amagami SS comparison. It is nice to see that I was completely wrong, as so far she’s been nothing but a student with a cause against the crazy-bloated bureaucracy on display by this school’s government. Mori is a politician to the core. He sees potential in Oojima because of the political climate and sprinkles in enough subtle words on the obligation he has to the club and lack of alternatives he has to save it. You know that he was just working Oojima the entire time, but as to why is yet to be seen.

With a last ditch effort, he tries to pin the responsibility on Chisato, but only makes his candidacy that much more attractive. Our time ends with a random scene made to feel dramatic, but is only made incredibly confusing by its lack of context. I hope that context arrives soon, as drama can always help a plotline, but only if there’s an emotional connection with the audience to make you care about the drama.
