Total Eclipse Episode 10

There's was nothing special to screencap this episode so here is a picture of Yui

Recap: Yuuya feels uncomfortable taking credit for their recent victory and lobbies for real melee combat. He gets his wish as the railgun is taken offline and Argos Test Flight is ordered to join the latest sortie.

Jel’s Thoughts: Look, I understand you can’t make a show filled with non-stop action. You need some time to setup a story and a reason for us to care blah blah blah but man, this show is SO BORING AND PREDICTABLE in its downtime. It’s to the point where my episode coverage must be getting boring and predictable as I keep complaining about it. Sorry folks, but I gotta call it like I see it!

Once again, every conversation this episode felt like it was taken from a Serious Mecha Show Dialogue 101 textbook. Yuuya’s whining about wanting to fight, Fikatsia’s whole big speech about… something, and Yui’s schoolgirl crush potentially giving away important military secrets – nothing particularly compelling to see here. I actually felt my stomach turn when Yui said she was granting them three days off because I knew that would mean sitting through more talking heads.

Fortunately the show doesn’t make good on that threat and is back in action towards the end of the episode. I was kind of happy they didn’t make another big deal about Yuuya hitting the battlefield, although I’m sure no one saw that surprise attack coming, right? OK, I’ll lay off the sarcasm for now and say I’m at least looking forward to the upcoming battle. I’m assuming Yui will be forced back into action, although I could also see them setting it up for Yuuya to swoop in and save her. WHATEVER MAN. At this point I just want to see some robots kills some aliens, is that so wrong?
