Total Eclipse Episode 11

"Don't worry, my plot armor will protect me from the fall!"

Recap: The underground BETA offensive forces Argos Test Flight off the front line. While the base evacuates, Yui stays behind to destroy the Type 99 weapon and keep it out of enemy hands.

Jel’s Thoughts: Just when we thought we had some guaranteed action on our hands, Total Eclipse somehow manages to drag things out with another episode of boring, predictable politics. The Soviet betrayal was a surprise to absolutely no one, and what’s worse is they felt it was necessary to explain it to us twice. If you didn’t figure it out before or during the scene when Yui figures it out, then you were probably not capable of understanding it when the Argos 1 members explained it again five minutes later. All of this was happening instead of the hot Mecha versus Alien action they’ve been teasing us with for the past two episodes. They literally called off Cryska and made her do nothing when she could have been CHAINSAWING ALIENS. Why would you NOT do that?!?!?

Being completely serious here, this is literally the only frame of Cryska this episode, the girl who pilots a mech with a CHAINSAW ARM

Perhaps even more frustrating is the fact Yui looks like she’s going to be put in the Damsel in Distress role, which was pretty much my worst case scenario from last week. I know they gave the whole speech about commanding officers focusing on what only they can do blah blah blah but I was really hoping to see her suit up and handle her business. I suppose there’s still an extremely remote chance of that happening, but all signs indicate Yuuya will be sweeping in for the rescue next week. LAME.

  1. I have a feeling that BETA at the end is gonna get run down by that guy in the Forklift who was working on loading fuel around the Radiation Gun and he’s probably going to die.

Still hoping for some Flashbacks cause even Yui no matter how mentally strong she is is prob gonna freak out seeing BETA maybe.

    • Good call on the forklift guy, I could see him buying just enough time for Yuuya to get there. I don’t think Yui will break down though, I’m assuming she’s fought more BETA since the first couple episodes.

      • Considering what they’ve been doing to Yui’s personality getting her to change a bit I wouldn’t put it to a bet but I can see nightmares ahead for her and probably a night with Yuuya.
