Recap: While holding off another wave of TSFs, Argos meets up with Inia and the remains of Team Russia. The rebel group reaches Anchorage base and releases the live BETA specimens being held their to cover their tracks, however their actions could have much greater consequences than expected.

Jel’s Thoughts: Completely in a vacuum, with no context, this was a pretty good episode. There was a healthy amount of action with Yuuya’s Plot Armor being somewhat viable for once. There was also a palpable sense of tension with Lieutenant Dahl’s face off and the revelation about the nuclear Red Line the BETA were about to cross. I would have loved to seen all this TWENTY EPISODES AGO but I have to acknowledge when they do get things right.

The only thing that did annoy me was basically killing off Cui and then not going through with it. How she survived that explosion with just a broken arm or whatever is way beyond me. They’ve been doing a good job of building the tension, like when they offed Natalie, and taking out Cui would have been the next logical step. I mean she even said “I can’t die now, we haven’t gone on our date yet!” which might as well be a kiss of death. By keeping her around it’s going to make you wonder if they really are going to pull the trigger the next time someone is in danger, and that’s not a good thing if you’re trying to keep us on the edge of our seat.

I’m also still not entirely clear on who are bad guy is at this point as the formerly zealous Christian dude seems to be dropping the act, although I suspect that will be cleared up soon. I suppose none of that really matters as there’s only a couple of episodes left and any bigger picture is irrelevant at this point. All I can ask for now is some more cool robot fights, maybe Former Christian guy versus Yui or Cryska and of course we have to have Yuuya versus Leon. They have to deliver on that, right? When have they ever let us down? Oh wait…..
