Ixion Saga DT Episode 13

She literally has stars in her eyes

Recap: To no one’s surprise, Kon and Ecarlate are still alive and regroup with Sainglain and Mariandale. In the nearest city, they encounter a strange girl who may be Kon’s most dangerous adversary yet.

You can't kill Ecarlate, she has too much SWAG

Jel’s Thoughts: Ixion couldn’t fool me into thinking our heroes were dead, but I was totally convinced the series would be over this week. I am totally fine with continuing on though as this episode was one of Ixion’s best, especially after the recent string of slow filler episodes.

Casual dip or Baccano reference?

It took introducing a new character to make me realize we were seriously overdue for a new face. Aside from Georg and ED’s fianceé we really haven’t seen any one else introduced since the first episode. Miranda makes a great addition, her over the top, bipolar madness fits perfectly with the show’s irreverent style. The way she makes Kon squirm not only had me laughing, it was a friendly reminder of why he’s a unique viewer proxy for a fantasy setting. He’s not the guy we want to be, he’s the guy that we actually are… well, at least the kind of guy that Ixion is clearly targeted at. Point is we’d all probably like a chance to format our Hard Drives before we die and the writers know it.

Capcom makes Ixion so Street Fighter references are OK

My only regret is it seems Miranda will not be joining the cast permanently, at least not as far as I can tell. I would not be surprised if we find out she stowed away with the cast next week, although she didn’t seem to pop up in the episode previews. I hope she at least makes another appearance though as her chemistry with Kon was fantastic. In the mean time the march to the Capital continues and with the group so close I’m curious how they will divide up the time. Will they focus on the final leg of the journey or save a big block of episodes for when they arrive? Either way I’m just happy we’re getting more Ixion.
