OP/ED Op-Eds: Shiroi Kokoro [Oreimo]

Love or hate the series, one cool thing Oreimo had going for it was a new ending song for every episode. Each of the female cast members gets their chance to step up to the mic, but even with more popular actresses like Ayana Taketatsu, Kana Hanazawa and Yukari Tamura in the mix it’s Saori Hayami’s “Shiroi Kokoro” that stands out as the best. A mix of dark trance beats and vaguely traditional Asian melodies, it’s a song well suited for the conservative, conflicted girl it’s meant to represent.

Of course the challenge of having a new ending song every episode is the visuals, and while Oreimo doesn’t have a new animation for each song they do have unique ending cards drawn by popular illustrators. For “Shiroi Kokoro” we have a lovely illustration of Ayase by Hidari (Left Side), best known for the Atelier game series and the light novel illustrations for the upcoming Sasami-san@Ganbaranai. I couldn’t find a video of the actual ending, but if you have a listen and stare at the header image you’ll pretty much get the same effect.
