Jel’s Verdict: Please list your title and salary requirements
I really wanted to like this. They seemed to put a lot of thought into how to get our evil devil satan lord to the point where he’s slummin’ it at MgRonalds, right down to getting ID and a bank account. I was also really surprised at the animation quality, particularly the cinematic intro depicting the fall of our enthusiastic King of Darkness. White Fox is spendin’ that Steins;Gate money I guess?
The presentation was nice but my main problem is I’m not sure what The Devil Is A Part-Timer is trying to be. Are they going for comedy or romance or what? There are pieces to work with but everything is just thrown out there, it all just… happens, with no real tone or nuance to it. I’m not encouraged by the preview for next week either as it looks like our Heroine is staying with her nemesis for what will undoubtedly be all too convenient reasons. I’m not quite ready to admit my gut instinct was wrong on this one (I said it might be good in our Spring guide), so I’ll give it another episode.
Iro’s Verdict: Dollar Menu Anime
The best part of this by far was the first five minutes, depicting the Demon Lord doing battle with the Heroes of Legend in whatever fantasy world they all originated in. It therefore should say something about the rest of the show when I tell you that part still wasn’t very good at all. There were a couple decent gags in the episode, but overall it was just tiresome and unfunny. Pass.
Lifesong’s Verdict: Just Not Funny
The Maou visits the real world and is forced into a human body. Since he now needs to eat to live and is without magic he takes a job working at McRonalds. He excelles at his job and makes the clumsy girl look bad. The next episode title makes it look like she will be living with him. Oh, it also seems like the Hero will be living with them as well. I guess he is not the only one with money problems. I am okay with magical girlfriend anime, but this setup is tired and most of the jokes are simply not funny. On the plus side the animation looks great, White Fox really did a nice job there. I will give this another episode, but I am not expecting much.

Hum… it’s a pity! I stumbled over it on facebook and wanted to give it a chance. Now I*m not really sure if I’ll even try trying. 😀 I think I’ll give it two or three episodes. Maybe my comedy-taste is different. ^^
Greetings!
There are a lot of people that do like this show, so you’re right, I’m sure it’s a matter of opinion. I watched the first five episodes and it never really changed my mind about it, but maybe you’ll like it.
