A few months after Masaomi’s farewell, life in Ikebukero is back to normal: Celty’s still terrified of the police, Izaya’s still up to his old tricks and Mikado still cannot utter a single word around Anri. Really, the only thing that’s changed is that Erika and Walker have terrible taste in anime now. For shame, guys.
Aqua’s verdict: Urban Safari
What’s there to say? From the clear-cut directing to the art style and music, quirkiness and wit, it’s one of the best anime of the past decade exactly as you remember it. What do you mean, you don’t remember Durarara!!? Well then, what the heck are you even doing here?
Jel’s verdict: That Sure Was Some Durarara!!
I can’t say I was the biggest fan of Durarara!!, especially its second half, but watching this episode was like meeting up with a friend you haven’t seen in awhile. I appreciated how they picked right up where they left off without spending too much time looking back. It makes for a terrible introduction to new fans, but they can always go back and watch the original series first. That being said, not too much actually happens and it’s tough to say what level of quality this new arc will bring. Still, I’m pleasantly surprised how happy I was to see everyone back and I’m looking forward to seeing where they go next.
Artemis’ verdict: Be Still, My Beating Heart
I’ll admit here and now that I’m quite incapable of offering an unbiased opinion towards this series. I love Durarara!! from the bottom of my fangirl heart, so my reaction to finally being able to watch a brand new episode after five years was mostly along the lines of asdfghjkl MY BODY IS READY. To be fair, the opening episode of season two doesn’t give much away – new faces are briefly introduced, old ones are fondly re-introduced, and the overarching plot is still largely a mystery. However, I have little doubt that I’ll be enjoying this sequel immensely; while the studio may have changed hands, the director, writer, and even composer behind the show remain the same, so I’m not particularly worried about issues regarding quality or consistency. Durarara!! looks to be picking up exactly where it left off, and in very similar fashion – and for that, I’m as excited as Erika over a manga torture scene. Let’s do this!

It was nice reintroduction episode focusing mainly on Celty ❤ still adorable as ever
Miyuki what are you doing on the crews van ahahaha
Kadota a fellow Index NT fan as well, heh I know that feel..also new Index in TWO MONTHS EXACT REALLY?…talk about meta…bet Shuka delayed the premiere just for that joke haha…also interrupting Erika and Walker talking bout Mahouka and Oreimo XD
heh Emilia also had a mask just like Shingen, the parents sure love teasing her and dem reactions ❤
cant wait to see more of Kururi and Mairu (Izaya's imoutos)
Says a lot about the quality of anime for the past year if the only character they can put on the side of their van is Shiba Miyuki. That said, with all the novels of Spice and Wolf available, why don’t they just make more episodes!?
Thank goodness for Durarara. This has been a horrendous season to be an otaku. My reaction was not unlike Artemis where I was literally hhhngggggggggggging with joy when I heard Durarara was returning.
Oh, YEAH. I was excited for this ever since a friend recommended me the first series a few months back. I haven’t been a fan for long, but I can see that this is pretty much one of the most exciting series I’ve ever watched. And from someone ruined too much by a certain website, that is saying much.
And Celty is still the same as usual. That’s nice. 😀
CELTY Be still, my beating heart. That SS of her on her horse with her always sexy one piece and helmet is perfect. Glad the we get another season!
