The new people in Reinhard’s admiral team are Karl Robert Steinmetz, Helmut Lennenkampf and Ernst von Eisenach.
Steinmetz was a background character going way back to the pilot episode. He served as captain of Reinhard’s ship and told him blowing up his ship because he was salty Yang took it hostage was dumb. He was with Kircheis with his own fleet during the empire civil war and was the guy that mentioned the rumor of Reinhard and the nukes after Kircheis told him he was getting a promotion for a good job at space navying. He also is on the short side especially when compared to Kircheis. Presumably Reinhard saw the Kircheis letter of recommendation and approved of it without a second thought.
Lennenkampf or space stalin with how he looks doesn’t get much screen time. I believe all the show says during his intro was that he was Reinhard’s commander at some point in the past.
Eisenach is the one with the dark red hair. Of the three he definitely has the least screen time.
I love Heydrich Lang because there aren’t enough slimy Empire folk in Reinhard’s new regime and he’s just so good at making up for lost time. Oberstein doesn’t count because he is a robot.
Despite his heinous methods, Reinhard has laid a solid foundation for a good invasion which I not like but appreciate especially in contrast to the FPA empire invasion. He has managed to mobilize his people to fight and has the moral high ground by getting the FPA to ally with the old Empire. He’s even attacking from an unconventional route to bypass the double threat of Yang and the fortress as well as sending some fleets to distract and keep Yang occupied. He does have a way of getting people fired up when he speaks and not just the normal people even the Empire admirals like Bittenfield were clamoring to be the first fleet to get thrown in harms way.
I laughed at the conversation between Reinhard and Oberstein talking about how they were going to screw over Boltik because Reinhard was proactively advocating these plots and Oberstein was like some proud teacher happy that his student has learned his lessons.
I was initially surprised that Yang was Reinhard’s #1 choice for governor in the maybe soon to be newly conquered FPA but thinking about it that he was the obvious choice. As part of his death wish Reinhard hates blood dynasties and wants a meritocracy so obviously Yang should be rewarded for his efforts. I do note he chose to not tell Oberstein when he asked for a possible governor for FPA territory.
I loved the space history channel episode and I am glad you guys loved it too. Talking about mysticism/?religion? coming back to prominence as the state grows weak does have merit as the in decline FPA has seen a surge of them presumably helped by Job.
