Keiki is a bland nice guy who wants a girlfriend but can’t man up enough to just ask out any of the three girls he’s literally spent all year with. Prompted by something stupid, he finds out his senpai probably needs some therapy.
Marlin’s verdict: Like 2012 Me Came Out of a Time Portal and Kicked Me in the Balls.
Another in the long lineage of light novel titles that sound like a satire of light novel titles, this is the kind of trashy mush would have been the perfect fodder for me to turn off my brain to back when I was in college, but I’m definitely glad to have grown up a bit as this wasn’t just trashy, it was booooooooooring. Half the episode is spent on really trite or asinine conversations that sure as hell don’t endear the characters. They come off as these extremely blank spaces with maybe one or two character traits that assumedly will be filled in by gross perversions, as the first episode already shows. To spoil that particular revelation, I don’t care what people say about “kink shaming”, any kind of sexual fantasy where you are dominated or dehumanized is a problem and needs help. The senpai’s pet thing magnifies the already unhealthy concept of anime women acting as submissive objects rather than subjects of respect. As the verdict implies, it reminded me of just how bad all the shows I used to enjoy really were the whole time. I can’t believe I went through stuff like Henneko or that multiple choice show with a straight face and if you’re the kinda guy that still doesn’t see what makes this show just as bad, this is your wake up call. Better anime is waiting, watch Rakugo Shinju or something.
