Scum’s Wish Episode 8

Having both found peace with their unrequited feelings, Hanabi and Mugi agree to confess to their respective crushes, get rejected and move on, but things don’t exactly go according to plan. Meanwhile, Sanae reunites with her cousin for a bizarre round of romance counseling.

Digimon Adventure Tri. – Part 4: Loss

The Digital World has been rebooted, taking the Digimon’s memories with it, and the new Biyomon refuses to accept Sora’s love. With the work done in ages past to protect both worlds undone, the agents of Yggdrasil begin to move in earnest to conquer them.

The Roundup: Winter 2017 Volume 7

It’s been a long week and most of the Roundup shows did not bring their A game, so apologies in advance if I sound more like a cranky old man than usual. Fortunately Little Witch Academia stands out as a bright spot with its best episode yet. Nothing like some ol’ timey cartoons to improve your mood.

Scum’s Wish Episode 7

For both Moca and Hanabi, going on a boring date with an insufferable jackass turns out to be the perfect antidote to their twisted pride. Whether that’s a good thing, however, that’s a whole other question.

OP/ED Op-Eds: The Best of Winter 2017

We’re past the halfway point of this season already, which means it’s once again time to pick our favourite anime song of the season. With JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure absent from the lineup for the first time in what seems to be forever, the path is clear for a larger variety of songs to be featured, most of which from shows probably no one’s even watching.

The Roundup: Winter 2017 Volume 6

Classicaloid wins this week with an appropriately bizarre take on “Swan Lake” and I hate the self-proclaimed fan service episode of Dragon Maid, but not for the reasons you may think. Otherwise it’s business as usual for the Winter Roundup. See you next week.

No Scum’s Wish Coverage This Week…

… Because for the sake of my own mental health, I need to take a break from coming up with metaphors for how perverse watching this show spiral out of control makes me feel and getting angry at people on the Internet for still defending Ecchan. See you next week, if I haven’t died from vicarious shame by then.

The Roundup: Winter 2017 Volume 5

We are moving the Roundup to Fridays which means a double dose of Dragon Maid this week, for better or worse. While that show continues to frustrate me, it’s a solid week for the rest of the lineup with March Comes In Like a Lion delivering its best episode of the second half. With all these shows still being pretty good nearly halfway through, maybe this season isn’t as bad as we thought it would be?

Scum’s Wish Episode 5

In spite of the easier solace they’ve found in the arms of others, Hanabi and Mugi fail to let each other go as Akane’s manipulations of the two grow ever more blatant. Torn apart by the risk of losing the tree people she cares about the most, Hanabi asked Mugi to take their relationship to the next level.

Scum’s Wish Episode 4

Her mask of wholesome innocence shattered, Akane sets Kanai up to profess his love to her before Hanabi’s eyes. Scared to confront Mugi with his beloved’s vicious true nature, Hanabi decides to risk her friendship with Sanae in search of relief.

The Roundup: Winter 2017 Volume 3

More debate this week as Gee and I disagree on this season’s premier weird and awkward teenage romance anime – no, not that one, I mean the ending of Seiren’s first story arc. Also, has Interviews with Monster Girls finally hit the wall and become the dumb harem show we originally thought it would be? Join us and discuss.

Scum’s Wish Episode 3

Struggling to cope with Sanae’s confession, Hanabi runs back to Mugi, who has his own sexual frustrations to deal with. Things get complicated even further when the couple runs into Akane during a frustrated late-night date.

Scum’s Wish Episode 2

Hanabi and Mugi’s relationship starts to attract some attention, and not all of it positive. While Mugi’s jealous childhood friend attempts to annoy Hanabi into giving back her one true love, Sanae Ebato seeks to cut some pesky spacing from her current status as Hanabi’s only girl friend.

The Roundup: Winter 2017 Volume 1

WE’RE BACK! Classicaloid and March Comes In Like a Lion return for the first installment of the Winter 2017 Roundup, joined by Onihei, Interviews with Monster Girls, and a new feature: The Little Witch Academia GIF of the week. We’ll have more shows next week as more second episodes air, so stay tuned.

First Look: Scum’s Wish

Hanabi and Mugi seem like the perfect couple, but in reality, their hearts belong to someone else: Hanabi is head over heels for her homeroom teacher, who she’s known ever since she was little, while Mugi has the hots for his former tutor. No one knows they’re only dating to share their grief and soothe their own loneliness. Yet how much longer can they keep up the charade when the targets of their affections start getting closer to each other?
