The Best Anime Shirts of 2018
The most important post I’ve ever written.
The most important post I’ve ever written.
We cap off a Very GLORIO 2018 by discussing our top 10 anime of the year, as well as a few honorable mentions that just missed the cut.
Another GLORIO year comes to a close and we recommend ringing in 2019 in the best way possible – no, not by partying with friends and family, I mean talking about anime!
It’s not easy to forget all the crap we here at Glorio subject ourselves to every year. From the merely unoriginal and incompetent shows to come out in 2018 like Dances with the Dragons and Bakumatsu, to the outright painfully bad like Devils Line and Magical Girl Site, we undeniably watched a lot of shit.…
It’s certainly been a long year everyone, but thankfully the top-notch anime we’ve gotten to see this year has made the tumultuous time a bit more tolerable.
Iro returns once again with a bag full of arbitrary and somewhat questionable awards.
Our Very GLORIO 2018 year in review begins as always with Jel’s best anime moments.
Jel, Iro, Marlin, and Gee aka Team GLORIO USA share their final thoughts on the Winter season. We talk about our favorite (or not so favorite) shows, discuss if Netflix is bad for anime, and Jel and Iro continue to battle over segues.
If you go about doing a season preview, it is only obvious you also close off on a season review. In The Wrap-Up, all of our contributors get to shine a spotlight on the show they thought to be the very best of the past few weeks, as well as reflect back on the preview to see which shows let us down the most.
What can you find in a place further than the universe? Well it turns out you can find big laughs, big tears, beautiful moments and whole lot of love from the Glorio Crew.
Just like last week, both of our final combatants deliver fantastic episodes but this time, the fight ends for real. Will Takagi-san pull off the upset or will A Place Further Than the Universe aka South Pole Girls fulfill its destiny as the best cute show of the season? The final battle begins NOW!
Our two remaining combatants have picked a good time to peak. Both Takagi-san and A Place Further Than the Universe deliver great episodes this week, leaving us with a tough choice. Decisions have been made, but the results may be a bit surprising.
After a tough fight to crawl into the top 3 last week, it’s probably no surprise to see School Babysitters struggle this week. More shocking is watching A Place Further Than the Universe deliver two average, maybe even *GASP* below average episodes in a row. With Takagi-san peaking at the right time, we could be in for a very interesting final showdown.
A rough week for the Battle Royale as all four of our remaining shows fail to put out a great episode. Laid Back Camp and School Babysitters struggle with sub par outings, but even Takagi-san and, dare I say it, A Place Further Than the Universe have issues of their own. It all culminates in the most difficult elimination yet, and it ain’t gettin’ easier from here on.
No amount of bad audio, technical difficulties, or even the anime police can stop Jel, Iro, and Marlin from getting of their takes on this season’s bottomless pit of cute shows. We geek out about March Comes In Like a Lion, Dagashi Kashi, and the remaining contenders in our Cute Anime Battle Royale. Seriously though, apologies for the poor sound quality, we will do better next time.
Love is in the air as School Babysitters and Takagi-san double down on their romantic plot lines. On the flip side, A Place Further Than the Universe has a whole lot of vomiting, although I suppose true love is being able to throw up in front of someone without shame… OK, look, I’m just stalling because we’re approaching the end of the Battle Royale and I don’t want to cut any of these shows. AHHH!
The competition is getting fierce as we hit the halfway mark of the season and I’m starting to contemplate cutting shows I actually like. Ms. Koizumi, Laid Back Camp, and not surprisingly A Place Further Than the Universe all have solid episodes, but Sanrio Boys, School Babysitters, and even Takagi-san expose some of their nagging flaws. Will one of those be the next to get axed? Read on.
The bodies are piling up as we approach the mid-point of the battle. A Place Further Than the Universe continues to intimidate the competition, but the fighting is fierce between just about everyone else. With Ms. Koizumi and Laid Back Camp slowly winning me over and School Babysitters always managing to pull out last minute saves, the next few weeks are going to be rough.
How to Keep a Mummy, School Babysitters, and Takagi-san all do the “sick day” episode in the same week, which feels strangely appropriate as I’ve been fighting off a cold myself. Fortunately they were all pretty solid, which is more than I can see for Sanrio Boys and Mitsuboshi Colors this week. Will either of those be our next victim? Let’s fight it out.
Contenders School Babysitters and Takagi-san hit their first missteps, we still can’t decide a good short name for A Place Further Than the Universe (I’m partial to South Pole Girls), and most importantly, we pick up a corporate sponsor!
