First Look: Rage of Bahamut: Genesis

The ginger-haired Dandy-like Favaro is a bounty hunter in a world where it isn’t that weird to summon giant demons and murder other people. Demons are also a big deal, and apparently there’s this big dragon that wrecked some stuff in a time gone by. It’s kind of hard to tell, there was no dialogue in the opening.

First Look: Cross Ange: Rondo of Angel and Dragon

Angelise is a princess beloved by her people and next in line for the throne. Her kingdom thrives on a magic power that can only be negated by individuals known as the “Norma”, who are quarantined and treated as sub-human. On the day of her coronation, she discovers a secret that shatters her way of life. Also, there are robots shooting dragons.

First Look: Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works

Ten years after Fate/Zero, the Fifth Holy Grail War begins, dragging Shirou and Rin into a conflict between magi and legendary heroes. Unlimited Blade Works stars Rin and not Saber as the main heroine, and deeply explores Shirou’s ideals and personality. Also, there’s a lot of dull exposition.

First Look: Wolf Girl and Black Prince

Erika is a starting freshman. She’s a pathological liar with a very vain concept of how friendship works. In order to get in good with some gaaru girls that are her neighbors, she pretends to have a boyfriend. After being pressed, she decides to take the picture of some rando named Kyoya to pretend he’s the genuine article. There’s only one problem: He goes to her school. In order for him to keep up airs, he wants to make her life an embarrassing mess.

First Look: Log Horizon 2

A new expansion pack for the popular MMO Elder Tale transports thousands of players into a world where the game’s rules are physical laws. Trapped with no clear way home, they must band together and form a cohesive society, dealing with the many issues that arise from such a goal.

First Look: Gundam Reconguista in G

Bellri Zenam is a member of the Capital Guard in charge of protecting an orbital elevator known as the Capital Tower. When space pirates attack the elevator, Bellri runs into an advanced mobile suit known as the G-Self, piloted by a female space pirate. Managing to capture the suit, the Capital Guard take both the G-Self and its pilot into custody. However, when the space pirates return to reclaim them, things are not as they appear…

First Look: Denki-Gai

Our focus is on a book store in Akihabara’s famous Electric Town. If this is sounding familiar to long time readers, that’s because this is an adaptation to a manga previously reviewed on Iro’s old RMT. While he gave the manga a resounding “okay”, the anime seems to have elicited a different reaction.

The Wrap-Up: Summer 2014

If you go about doing a season preview, it is only obvious you also close off on a season review. In The Wrap-Up, all of our contributors get to shine a spotlight on the show they thought to be the very best of the past few weeks, as well as reflect back on the preview to see which shows let us down the most.

First Look: TERRA FORMARS

In the distant future, attempts to terraform Mars have caused the creation of a race of sentient cockroaches. Akari Hizamaru is an underground fighter with special abilities. After he learns his childhood love had finally succumbed to an alien disease, he decides to join a group of humans modified to take on the aliens. Oh, by the way, the aliens look like early twentieth century racist caricatures. So yeah…

GLORIO Fall 2014 Anime Guide Part 2

Jel’s a bit busy, and because he hates you almost as much as he loves me, he put me in charge of handling the rest of our preview guide for the upcoming fall system. That means twice as much unfiltered vitriol and more unwarranted music references than you can shake a stick at, but you’ll be glad to hear that even to me, this line-up doesn’t look to be complete rubbish. We have some high-concept fantasy blockbusters in Garo and Rage of Bahamut, a couple of shounen juggernauts in the making, and the glorious return of the best kids’ show that doesn’t involve Tony Stark partying all over the world.

OP/ED Op-Eds: The Best of Summer 2014

Summer is generally the least interesting period of the year in the world of music, yet I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the sheer amount of enjoyable anime songs this season. I suppose the guy running many a voice actress’s lackluster soprano through Protools deserves a break as well. In any case, it’s time to select the best of the best as the season comes to its end.

Terror In Resonance Episode 9

Twelve rushes to Lisa’s rescue, while Nine heads out to retrieve the stolen plutonium from its secret location. Meanwhile, Shibazaki and Hamura finally get a key witness in the Athena scandal to talk.
