I’ll comment some other time but I think you guys got the battle with no possible victory thing wrong. The historians were saying that had Yang realized that the FPA had it in them to put up a token resistance his plans right now such as the Iserholn operation would have to be scrapped.
Most likely given Yang’s character he would have led his fleet to where the FPA was going to do its last stand and join them which meant Yang would have been with Bucock in his ride and die fleet.
In these series of episodes team Bucock had the best moments.
There’s just something about Mrs. Bucock just getting up mid Reinhard speech to get her husband’s uniform that starts off the depression train on the right track. We then go to Sousou something barely holding it in as he watches the old man hobble himself into hq and get told no you can’t join the suicide fleet. We fast forward to the end of the last episode with brief glimpses of the FPA dying and there’s this classical music booming in the background which just stops right as Bucock gives the order for the last alliance fleet to set sail.
Admiral Eisenach is my other favorite empire admiral that’s not that important. His intro scene was having a reputation as a stern commander and the cabin boy assigned to get his drinks got the order wrong. It was supposed to be one coffee or whiskey but he was enough of a softy that he didn’t say anything so now he drinks nothing but coffee out of consideration of the kid shaking in his boots. I just love the idea of Reinhard looking through the list of imperial admirals, reading about admiral no talk and immediately feeling a sense of kinship with his flair of dramatics while being competent and hiring him on the spot.
I liked how we don’t get much out of El Facil government and due to the Yang based pov, all we see is just another group fearing yet needing Yang. Yang made a throw away line about Schönkopf and the others making inappropriate comments and here I am wondering what they were saying that riled up El Facil to the point they feared Yang enough to hinder him.
I was surprised Reinhard even managed to admit how Yang beat him the first time. In such a not exactly calm but more melancholic way too. Not only will Yang have to fight more fleets with his under strength fleet but now Reinhard is actually being forced to grow as a person and admit defeat despite his massive ego, you could practically see him powering up like a dbz character which is funny considering his VA.
