Kousei runs into his mother’s old friend. Elsewhere, Takeshi has a crisis of conscience as his image of Kousei is shattered by the competition. With his spirits renewed, Kousei resolves to keep playing just as Kaori gets an invitation to a new event.

With the immediate threat over, Shinichi tries to go back to his normal life at school. At the same time, strange dreams and Shinichi’s warnings make Kana start to get even more interested in him. Elsewhere, a modified Parasyte is unleashed in some clandestine operation. His efforts appear to run parallel with other Parasytes attempting to infiltrate the local government.

Before Arima gets his time to shine, Takeshi and Emi take the floor and raise the bar. Both of them channel their rivalry with Arima through their music, and see it bring them success. With these years of emotion building up, will Arima be able to live up to their expectations?

Shimada’s confrontation spirals out of control as his body is damaged. With no way to stop his autonomous Parasyte reactions, he goes on a killing spree in Murano’s class. Shinichi goes to save her, and resolves to defeat Shimada by his own hand. Later, we learn just how much the government knows about the Parasyte threat.

Shinichi’s mind is starting to change with his body, and Murano is starting to notice it more and more. A new parasyte is sent into Shinichi’s school, keeping him on edge. Later, one of Murano’s friends discovers the secret of the Parasytes, and despite being totally defenseless tries to handle the new arrival herself.

The day of the big recital finally comes. Kaori gives Kousei some much needed pep-talks before the big day, but he still has his doubts. His trauma manifests into a new form as he remembers an old pet his mother took away. Meanwhile, the two no-names from the end of last episode finally make their presence known as Kousei’s rivals. Will Kousei have the ability to match their expectations?

Shinichi dashes out to confront his mother’s killer, only to find Uda, a man in the same boat as him. They become quick friends, and Uda decides to help Shinichi as his mother’s killer finally reveals itself.

Your Lie In April Episode 6

Kousei is driven hard by Kaori to start practicing for a recital. His abilities have noticeably decreased, and his mental struggles still affect his playing. Kaori finally understands the carelessness of her actions, but in her enthusiasm Kousei finds the strength to continue. Meanwhile, Tsubaki is in the midst of Regionals when she starts to get jealous of Kousei and Kaori’s closeness.

Parasyte – The Maxim Episode 6

Migi acts quickly to save Shinichi’s life by merging with his damaged organs. The process takes its toll on Migi, but also manages to make improvements to Shinichi’s senses. He finds out his father is still alive, wounded in a hospital. Shinichi goes to protect him from the monster that stole his mother away, and finally builds the resolve to fight.

Kousei finally gets to the competition with Kaori. After his trauma gets to him, Kaori tries to give him another push to get over it by sticking with him. Afterwards she collapses, bringing everyone to worry about her condition. It would appear she is fine, but the event sparks guilt in Kousei. Coupled with how he deals with his crush on her, he finds it hard to talk to her face to face. After she waits to confront him, he is sparked towards action. Will he really be able to put his problems behind him?

Parasyte – The Maxim Episode 5

Shinichi continues to search for distinctions between himself and the unfeeling Parasytes. By trying to intervene on behalf of his friend versus some bullies, he finds cause for his humanity, as well as interest from a new girl named Kana, who may be able to sense Parasytes. Away from home, tragedy strikes his family, and Shinichi must confront the worst case scenario.

At a pitstop on the way home, Kaori reveals she’s heard a lot about Kousei from his years as the Child Genius. Kousei is goaded into playing the piano for some adorable twerps until his trauma forces him to stop. He reveals to Kaori that he believes he can’t hear the music if he plays for long enough. After accepting that this is kinda ridiculous, Kaori goes on a vendetta to make him her accompanist for the next round of the competition.

The gang gets Kaori to her competition in the nick of time. Her playing blows the audience out of the water, and solidifies Kousei’s crush. Unfortunately, her unorthodox style gets no points from the judges. Realizing he’s only second fiddle to Ryota, he becomes melancholy once again, but he just can’t get her out of his head.

Kousei Arima is a former child prodigy. After his mother’s death, he swears off the piano, instead deciding to spend his time like any other normal middle schooler. After being cajoled by his best friend Tsubaki, he goes to a get-together where he meets Kaori Sawabe, an energetic violin player. She has her sights set on his friend Ryota, but for Kousei, it’s love at first sight.

Our show starts out in some strange future lab, but quickly transitions to an established club in the middle of preparations for its big school culture fest. This club also has the strange double-duty of school mediators, both using information and force to resolve conflicts. After a conveniently tragic accident steals one of their lives, the future is somehow changed to stop it.

Erika is a starting freshman. She’s a pathological liar with a very vain concept of how friendship works. In order to get in good with some gaaru girls that are her neighbors, she pretends to have a boyfriend. After being pressed, she decides to take the picture of some rando named Kyoya to pretend he’s the genuine article. There’s only one problem: He goes to her school. In order for him to keep up airs, he wants to make her life an embarrassing mess.

If this is sounding familiar to long time readers, that’s because this is an adaptation to a manga previously reviewed on Iro’s old RMT. While he gave the manga a resounding “okay”, the anime seems to have elicited a different reaction.
