Hachiman once again espouses the virtues of being a lone wolf… despite the fact he actually is starting to form a social circle. The irony is not lost on Yui, but she doesn’t seem to mind. After bringing an effeminate tennis player to the club to help him out, the gang gets in a heated game of tennis that clearly does not care for quality action shots or actually abiding by the rules.
Recap: Izumiko is having a change of heart about Teen Jerkwad and about going to school in Tokyo, which upsets the creepy Wamiya. Turns out, hes more than what he appears.
The intense match between Chihaya and Megumu comes to a close. While everyone is focused on this clash of giants, this is still a team match, and all of Team Mizusawa is going to have to come together if they want to go on to the finals.
Yui is having problems separating herself from her old group. After Yukino helps her find the words to stand up to them, they go back to the clubroom to find an old classmate of Hachiman’s, still as weird as he was back in middle school. He wants the Service Club’s help in one of the most thankless jobs ever, critiquing. Considering who hes asking this of, he takes their thoughts pretty well.
Izumiko is still a huge baby, but apparently now she has legitimate reason. While trying to get in contact with her mother, they find themselves getting tailed by malevolent forces, which ends up being The Worst Father Ever. They stay at her abandoned home, only to have Izumiko be posessed by a spectral kimono lady. I am still not convinced this is anything remotely good.
Hachiman is a disenfranchised youth with all the snark that entails. After writing a particuarly bleak essay, his teacher forces him to join the Service Club, headed by the haughty ace student Yukino. They slowly bond to help Hachi’s “people issues” and end up assisting a ditzy delinquent named Yui.
The fight between Chihaya and Megumu gets heated as we get more time to understand our opponent’s point of view. For the first time I’m starting to get weary of how slow Chihayafuru is going.

Izumiko is a frail technowitch who is trying to change the way her life has been lead for her. Unfortunately, forces beyond her control seem to be guiding her life towards Miyuki, an asshole with an even greater asshole of a father.

Once reunited, our team has once last heart to heart before going to battle against his murderbot.
With the biggest revelation of the entire show out of the way, our two heroes are at a loss for what to do. Thankfully, a fire is lit under them by an unlikely Hanamura, and Evangeline is already in plans to defeat the Pillar of the Tree once and for all.
The hammiest sequence of events happens, and for once it really doesn’t work in this show’s favor.
In the most filler-y episode to date, Arata arrives on the scene to watch Chihaya and the gang play, only to find himself roped into breaking the rules to help one of his hometown’s schools.
