In this bonus episode, we get a look at what Hazuki, Natsuki, and the other cut band members were up to as they helped prepare for the big competition. Between confessing to Tsukamoto and not being able to compete, Hazuki in particular has a lot of rejection to overcome.

With Reina’s drama over, Kumiko focuses back on herself. Despite her experience, she is finding the high level parts of the piece difficult to master. After being taken out from a particularly tough section, she finds the strength to play in Reina’s indomitable drive. Jel swears it’s a metaphor for lesbianism.

Kaori and Kousaka start practicing vigorously for the new audition. As the results start to seem one-sided, that asshole with the bow tries one last desperate plea to get Reina to throw the competition. With the stress finally getting too much, Reina reaches out to Kumiko for consolation.

Love abounds as the classic date festival comes to everyone’s minds. Hazuki confirms Kumiko’s lack of feelings for Shuichi, only to have Shuichi ask Kumiko out the next day. The next day, Shuichi presses for an answer, and an awkward dodge coincidentally lands her with Reina.

Sound! Euphonium Episode 7

Aoi grows more and more distant from the band as exam pressures start to mount. After being pressed by Mr. Taki, she quits, causing the President to question her ability to lead. Elsewhere, Kumiko and the gang learn about the truth of last year’s falling out.

The Half Time Show: Spring 2015

The smell of hot dogs, the noise of conversation and the breeze from the occasional girder falling from the sky. That’s right, it’s the half time show! The Glorio Rabble have put their heads together to let you know what’s worth your valuable time, in a world where first episodes are high budget and mid-season turns filler if left out in the sun too long.

The band receives a big shock when Mr. Taki announces that they will have to audition for parts, y’know, like they’re actually part of a competitive band or something. Most of our girls take it in stride, but Hazuki’s lack of experience compounds on her lack of motivation for playing the Tuba. With only a week until the auditions, the girls try to show her that no part is unimportant when you’re in a band.

The band is on the move, marching to prepare for the upcoming SunFes. At the festival, we get a first taste of their rivals, and the band finally gets a chance to prove itself. Also, more legs than ever before.

Sound! Euphonium Episode 4

The parts are broken up as Mr. Taki starts his tough training regimen. While dissent is high among the lackadaisical band members, others like Reina are quickly backing his attempts to whip the band into shape. When Kumiko vents with Shuichi, this unintentionally brings Reina to her attention. With SunFes coming up, the next ensemble is make or break for the band.

The band starts breaking into parts, but not everyone is taking practice seriously. Their new conductor realizes this, and gives them a harsh ultimatum before giving his assistance.

Kumiko is still agonizing over her reconciliation with Reina. Meanwhile, everyone finally picks their instruments, and the VP is the best character once again. With a new conductor in town, it seems changes will come to the band.

Kumiko has just started high school away from most of her old friends. she used to be in band, but now doesn’t seem to want anything to do with it. Despite mixed feelings, her new friends slowly lead her back to the concert band.

GLORIO Spring 2015 Anime Guide Part 2

Part 2 of our guide features Dogakobo and Kyoto Animation slugging it out to see who can be cuter, while a good portion of the Glorio Crew has their eyes on Blood Blockade Battlefront, which is somehow NOT created Ryougo Narita. Meanwhile Sanrio attempts to steal money from Otaku with the creepy Show by Rock!! and Rainy Cocoa gives me an excused to reference the end of the the first season of The World God Only Knows.
