The Roundup: Fall 2016 Volume 6
This weeks shows were good blah blah OK enough of that… Yuri On Ice episode 7. Wow. No spoilers but I guess it was, in fact, born to make history?

It’s been a rough week, and in these difficult times writing about cartoons feels more frivolous than usual. Perhaps more than ever though, I’m personally enjoying the comfort and brief escapism of some good anime. So take a minute to relax and forget about all the horrible things going on in the world for just a moment. I’ll be happy if we can at least offer that much.
Here at the Glorio Blog we always strive to deliver QUALITY anime coverage, regardless of our production schedule. It helps when there’s a lot of good shows to talk about of course, and I’m probably going to sound like a broken record here but wow this season is good. Yuri and March deliver as always, Girlish Number and ClassicaLoid are turning out pretty good, and somehow Aqua is still watching (and enjoying?) Kiss Him, Not Me.
The Roundup keeps on truckin’ with our usual batch of animes. Artemis is back but a few shows find themselves flirting with the chopping block, if not being cut altogether. You’ll have to read on to find out more, but I’ll tell you now I would probably never cut a show in which someone can say “Beethoven-senpai” unironically.
Nosebleeds abound as we continue to gush over all the good new shows this season. Girlish Number also joins the Roundup with more delicious jabs at the anime industry, or at least for now so long as we don’t get bored of it.
What’s this, anime is good again?!? This week we launch a rock solid lineup for the Fall 2016 Roundup with a couple of other shows joining us next week. Personally I’m already declaring Yuri!! On ICE and March Comes In Like a Lion as anime of the year contenders, we also have delightfully fun shows like ClassicaLoid, Time Bokan 24, and Poco’s Udon World, and for some reason Aqua is still watching Kiss Him, Not Me and Izetta: The Last Witch.
It’s the last Roundup of the Summer season and we bid farewell to a surprisingly solid lineup of shows with an appropriately solid batch of finales. Well, except for 91 Days, they still have one more episode to kill everyone off.
Summer is over and we must prepare to say goodbye to our Roundup shows. Sweetness and Lightning is the first to go, with everyone else setting us up for their finales. So enjoy these fun episodes while you can and save those tears for next week.
With only a few episode remaining, shows like Sweetness and Lightning and Amanchu scramble to meet their mandatory anime episode quotas, tackling the cultural festival and beach episodes respectively. Fortunately both shows remain just too sweet to be dragged down by anime clichés, and we get yet another week of solid Roundup viewing.
I probably need an insulin shot after watching anime this week as nearly every show was super sweet and endearing – even my dumb Art Club show. At least 91 Days is back with more murder to make sure my cold, dead heart doesn’t thaw out too much.
With 91 Days taking a week off and Orange feeling like filler, we’re left with nothing but sunshine and rainbows with the rest of the perpetually pleasant Roundup shows. Sweetness and Lightness does give us a few gut punches while playing the Mom Card, but stick around for Iro’s important PSA on cutting food.
I’ve been giving a lot of love to the cute and sweet shows that dominate this season’s Roundup so let me shout 91 Days this week. It got real dark this episode but not in the excessively juvenile way you might expect. Of course those others shows are still adorable and you should watch those too.
Believe it or not, we’re already at the midpoint of the Summer season and our Roundup shows are in peak form. Sweetness and Lightning and Amanchu continue to bring happiness to the world, Art Club comes dangerously close to making me angry but pulls through, and 91 Days will make me hesitate the next time I eat lasagna.
This being summer we have quite a few Glorio members on the go this week, but me, Iro, and Marlin are here to hold things down in The Roundup. Sweetness and Lightning and Amanchu introduce some new friends, That Art Club show is still pretty good, and blame Artemis for Cheer Boys resorting to a recap episode.
The Roundup hits mid-season form as nearly every show has their best episode yet. 91 Days is particularly great with a surprising change in mood while Art Club is becoming dangerously close to something I can actually recommend.
The fun Roundup shows continue to do their thing, which means I now know more about white sauces and how air pressure affects your body underwater than I ever did. Meanwhile, Artemis and I try to explain what’s wrong with the serious shows without sounding like we don’t like them. I’m telling you, 91 Days just needs color coded suits and everything will be fine.
The First Looks have finally ended and we are finally fully staffed, so let’s get back in to the Roundup! Looks like we’ve got another batch of easy going comedies this season with just a touch of sadness and dash of violence to keep things interesting. What shows could I possibly be referring to? You’ll just have to read on and find out.
Most of this stuff actually ends, and on the same week Jel takes a vacation! Can Iro manage to pull together the wrap-up in his absence? Read ahead to find out!
Most every Roundup shows airs their penultimate episode with no sign of the end in site. Seriously, it’s completely business as usual and I have no idea how any of these shows are going to find a stopping point. At least Bakuon!! is weird again.
The Roundup is heating up as Luluco getts the cameo we we’ve been waiting for and Tanaka-kun carts out the “summer episode”. I suppose there were other shows too but hey, Inferno Cop!
