Contenders School Babysitters and Takagi-san hit their first missteps, we still can’t decide a good short name for A Place Further Than the Universe (I’m partial to South Pole Girls), and most importantly, we pick up a corporate sponsor!
Ten cute shows drop on an adorable little island…
Hazuki is really awkward around people but finds comfort in reading books. A mysterious book appears in her bag one day that leads her to a magic academy in an alternate world.
Still recovering from her injuries during the war, Violet is taken in by a former commanding officer who gives her a job working at his delivery business. It’s there she meets the Auto Memory Dolls, women who dictate letters for those who can’t write.
THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE
After losing their parents in a plane crash, Ryuuichi and his baby brother are taken in by an old woman who lost her family in the same accident. She is the chairwoman of a school and she agrees to take care of the boys under one condition: Ryuuichi must work at the daycare center at the academy.
Three young girls form a group called ‘Colors’ to solve mysteries around town, make poop jokes, and battle their arch-nemesis Saitou the traffic cop.
Hana is coming off a gap year in which she studied to get into her new high school. She’s very self conscious about her age, but this has no bearing on anything as she meets her new classmates.
Yes, I know new shows are already starting and we’re already putting out first looks, but there are still a few shows to preview. Part 3 of our guide is headlined by Darling In the FranXX, a big name collaboration between Trigger and A-1 Pictures. We also have yet another Fate project, this time in the hands of the infamous Shaft director Akiyuki Shinbo. Will they be good? Maybe not, but definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Nadeshiko just moved to a new town and gets lost trying to see Mount Fuji. She stops at a campground and meets Rin, an avid camper who she will inevitably start a camping club with.
You know what’s weird? Kyoto Animation has not done a TV series in a year, the last one being Ms. Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid in the Winter 2017 season. Consider that one more thing to add to hype machine around their stunning Violet Evergarden, which headlines second part of our Winter 2018 preview guide. The rest of Part 2 is a bit of a mixed bag, but there seems to be a few other shows worth checking out. What’s everyone else got their on eye on?
We just barely finished recapping 2017 but new anime starts TOMORROW, so there is no rest for us here at The GLORIO Blog. Part 1 of our Winter guide is headlined by the return of classic magical girl series Cardcaptor Sakura and… a whole lot of shows with random, extremely thin premises. So if you’re interested in things like camping, ramen, Sanrio, or babysitting, we’ve got you covered.
Did your favorite shows make the cut? What did we choose for #1 and why is it Eromanga-sensei? Read on!
A look back at the only Game of the Year contender that matters.
As is our custom, the GLORIO crew will be posting a variety of retrospectives on anime, music, drama, and whatever else we want to talk about that happened in 2017. As is also our custom, I’ll be kicking things off with my favorite anime moments of the year.
Moriko and Sakurai bond over building a new computer and a lazy day of gaming at her apartment. Moriko falls asleep at her keyboard and dreams about being a hero in Fruits de Mer.
A lot of confrontations this week as Anime-Gataris gets weird, Osomatsu isn’t weird enough, and Bed Bath and Blood Blockade Battlefront and Beyond tackles… the challenges of being a working parent??? Also, March Comes In Like a Lion is still good. Read on!
After running for shelter during a rain storm, Moriko hangs out at Sakurai’s apartment for the day. The episode is so adorable that my heart stopped and I had to be resuscitated to write this.
A bit of a condensed Roundup this week as we rapidly approach the end of the season and prepare for our annual year end posts. But before we get to A Very GLORIO 2017, there’s still a lot of good anime going on. Check it out.
