Nozomi’s next letter brings them to the twin kingdoms of Aichi and Mie. Terrorism has just struck this town as well, bringing tensions between the two areas to a boiling point. While both Bests want peace, their Rests are itching for a fight. In the middle of this, a young artisan named Himeko has come home after a long time journeying.
Kousei quickly adapts to his new roll as teacher. Kaori’s illness seems to be getting worse and worse, affecting her already capricious personality. Losing the last thing worth living for her, she becomes incredibly distraught.
Tamera faces off against three Parasytes at once. Using her keen insight into Parasyte morphology and unorthodox behavior, she manages to best them all without a scratch. In the mean time, the detective has taken her child for his own revenge. As Tamura and Shinichi face off, Murano and the police are finding themselves closer to the truth about Shinichi.
An old acquaintance of Yukina’s springs the girls out of their confinement. Meanwhile, Thunder Road has a change of heart, and tries to get Chi’s stone back. Amongst this confusion, another bomb is unleashed on the city.
Tsubaki is dumped and continues to angst about her feelings for Kousei. Meanwhile, Takeshi’s sister engineers an audition with Kousei’s famous teacher, and Kousei gets saddled with handling her. Back at the hospital, Kaori catches magical leg paralysis disease and it’s super hokey.
Shinichi starts his battle with Miki. After some quick thinking, they use their environment and their observations to launch a successful counter attack. Little do they know, Miki is not the alpha Parasyte in that body. In fact the Juggernaut I’d been waiting for was inside of him all along. Driven to his limits, Shinichi goes into hiding.
The newly formed group rolls into Tokyo, now called Always Comima where a misunderstanding brands them as criminals. Given only a day to find the leader’s missing stone, their own falls into her hands. Given the choice between doing the right thing and getting a sweet 1:1 figure of Favaro, the leader of the Otaku mecca does pretty much what you’d expect.
Kaori is in the hospital again, and Kousei is incredulous of her reasons why. Thinking about his renewed future as a pianist, Kousei decides he will join a musician’s academy. Meanwhile, Tsubaki is challenged about her commitment towards her boyfriend. Learning of Kousei’s decision, she is overcome with emotion.
Shinichi starts to track Parasytes, eventually finding one of their feeding grounds. After successfully defeating another Parasyte, he starts to feel overconfident about his abilities. The Parasyte Council, finally sick of his interloping, sends a team of Parasytes after him. Intelligent and sociable, this group is a dangerous threat. However, what is most frightening is they all inhabit the same body.
Kureha has no memories of the night before. The next day, a funeral is held for Sumika. Another bear shows up, jealous of the President’s infatuation with Kureha. The president tries to fend off Ginko and Lulu, but has a secret of her own. The next day, The Invisible Storm is used to target Kureha. Unable to control herself, the President makes an attack of her own.
The gang has been put in mortal peril by Shigyo, but Masami still refuses to acknowledge she is Maccha Green. After slinking away and donning her suit, she manages to stop the train in time. Exploiting this, Shigyo goes on the offensive once again, revealing Masami’s secret once and for all, along with their shared history. With Maccha out of commission after the fight, Nozomi goes off on a quest to go out in her place.
Kousei goes on to play alone. Meanwhile, his mother gets a bunch of flashbacks that try to make her seem sympathetic. The attempt fails. The show goes on to further cement itself as a bad melodrama as more allusions to Kaori’s death loom in the final minutes.
Kousei and Kaori are hard at work practicing for the gala, but Kousei is struggling. Still bogged down by memories of his mother, only amplified by playing this particular piece, he still cannot hear the notes. After basically being lied to by Hiroko, Kousei starts to look at playing in a different light. On the day of the recital, Kaori is missing. Despite this, Kousei still intends to play, even if it is alone.
Migi changes his mind about the best strategy to tackle their newest problem. Believing in strength in numbers, they recruit the ever jovial Uda. I was pretty hyped. Back to Tamiya, or rather Tamura now, we find the intelligent Parasyte starting to have human emotions, even if it’s something as despicable as schadenfreude. With her interest in human ethics increasing, might radical changes be happening to her behavior?
Shinichi returns to his normal life, but the student body learns that he was the one to discover Kana’s body. Yuko finds Shinichi’s lack of reaction despite the horrific events disturbing, and Murano agrees. Elsewhere, Reiko has sent a private detective to monitor Shinichi’s movements. After he gets caught, Migi almost murders him, but Shinichi’s conscience stops the attack. Stuck with the paranoia of his secret getting out, he tries to console in Murano, only to find Migi preventing that from happening, leaving him alone.
Moroha is a new student at an academy for Saviors, individuals who summon memories from the past to fight beings called Metaphysicals. Since this isn’t the type of show where he’s the only male Savior, he’s got to be unique in some other way, so he gets a doable not-imouto and lascivious classmate packaged in! I’m also told there are other wish fulfillment reasons why hes unique but I don’t give a shit.
In some weird alternate universe Japan, prefectures fight for dominance. Almost every young person belongs to gangs who patrol their own cities, but the battles are one on one fights between the Best as the Rest cheer them on. It’s pretty awesome.
Basara meets with his father one day to a surprise. His father is remarrying, and he’s now going to have two brand new step sisters! Hijinks ensue, but the two of them actually have a terrible secret: this anime is incredibly awful! Oh wait, that’s not a secret.
Kana continues to pursue Shinichi, increasingly convinced that her sensory powers are proof of a more intimate connection. Even after Shinichi exploits migi’s sleeping period to tell her the truth, she refuses to believe. With her powers growing ever stronger, it is only a matter of time before she puts herself in danger.
